Celebrities that enjoy gambling

Why are we so interested in celebrities? Some say that it the so-called ‘halo effect’. We respect them for being excellent or even reasonably good in one specific field, and so we extend this to thinking that they are excellent (or at least reasonably good) in others. It could even extend to prehistoric times when our ancestors had a better chance of survival if they followed and learned from those who demonstrated extraordinary skills. Whatever the reason, we do seem particularly interested in celebrities and what they get up to even when they are out of the public eye.

Sometimes celebrities do display all round skills, and many celebrities are particularly good at gambling, especially at poker. Casinos are obviously high-end environments and you’re more likely to see a celebrity in a land-based one as opposed to an online casino UK. For instance Jennifer Tilly the actress has won over half a million dollars at poker tournaments and has had 4 WSOP finishes winning one bracelet and 5 WPT finishes. Ben Affleck of Good Will Hunting and Pearl Harbour fame has won a third of a million dollars and the Californian State poker Championship and Shannon Elizabeth, best known for her role as Nadia in American Pie has one in excels of two hundred thousand dollars at poker. You might not have heard of him, but Patrick Bruel is a well-known singer and actor in France. He has 24 poker tournament finishes, 10 of them in the WSOP and his tournament winnings are just short of a million dollars, which probably makes him the most successful celebrity gambler of all.

It’s not only poker that attracts celebrity gamblers. Pamela Anderson of Baywatch fame is particularly fond of all kinds of gambling, and the celebrity gossip is that she settled a gambling debt in a Las Vegas casino in a rather irregular way. Tiger Woods, another celebrity whose off-course exploits have grabbed a great deal of attention is also a keen gambler and at onetime would regularly play blackjack with stakes of over twenty thousand dollars a hand.

MORE Charice and Pacquiao Women Plastic Surgery and Photoshop Scandals

Just in case you haven’t seen, the internetosphere erupted in both praise and criticism when two magazines, Mega Magazine and Preview Magazine, came out with their January 2012 issues. The outcry was about the supposed, and seemingly highly photoshopped and/or surgically enhanced models on the covers: Jinkee Pacquiao and Charice Pempengco. (Or maybe the outcry was just because Twitter was failwhailing… either way, there was an outcry!)

It does not stop there! Apparently, Charice and the Pacquiao women are on a plastic surgery and photoshop rampage!

I’m no celebrity-recognizing-face-matching expert, but I’m pretty sure that’s her! I mean look at them! They’re both Asian! Tsk tsk tsk. Talk about getting Louder!

I’d have to say, the letters up are a big improvement though….

Anyway, there’s also that other outcry about the Mega Magazine cover of Jinkee where people are claiming that she looks completely fabricate, from her neck to her eyes, to her boobs, something was doctored, either with a sharp knife or with a lasso tool. Here’s the rumored and controversial Jinkee Pacquiao magazine cover you’ve heard so much about:

I’m no expert, but I do think it was photoshopped a bit.

Oh and this next one stirred some controversy too.

Of course, many claim that both the Charice and this Jinkee cover is only photoshopped minimally, with some hardcore fans even claiming that no editing was involved at all!

And just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I then see this magazine cover of the other female Pacquiao celebrity! None other than Aling Dionisia with her own FHM cover!

Again, I’m no expert, but I think this one is photoshopped a bit…

Oh photoshop, where will you take us next?

FYI, just in case it wasn’t obvious, this is a satirical piece meant to poke fun at the situation. Not to be taken seriously. In case you’re also wondering, that girl that kinda looks like Charice is Tila Tequila.

If you’ve seen the cover of Mega Magazine and Preview Magazine lately, then you’re probably saying what everyone else is saying: “Who the f*** is that?”

This has been the initial reaction of many readers who got to check out the covers with Jinkee Pacquiao and Charice Pempengco.

The two celebrities are seen (though you might not recognize them) on the covers of Mega and Preview Magazine and are barely recognizable. With a seemingly furious mix of plastic surgery and photoshop, Jinkee and Charice are made to look like supermodels.

It begs the question of what is too much. I mean we all know that magazines do add a little brushing up and extra make up and all, but where should we draw the line? Moreover, it also begs the question on whether or not we should indeed be adoring and idolizing women who themselves are not proud of what they look like and undergo an extensive amount of surgery and photoshopping.

Do we really want kids and teenagers to be looking at this and feeling insecure about themselves for not looking as fabulous, when these women actually looked just like them, or worse, before they got rich and started spending on excessive cosmetic surgery.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a girl going up a letter or two, or getting a little nose fix or mole removals, but to have people, whom you would not recognize at all from what they previously looked like, on the cover of magazines, that might be too much.

It reminds me of the Baz Luhrman song: “Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen” and the line that goes: “Do not read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly!”

But for now, we’ll sit back and glorify these extensively photoshopped beauties as they go forth and change the way young women will look at beauty and them selves. Girl power! Go on and shake what your doctor gave you!

When In Manila, the one time you will see NO traffic, NO quarrels, NO fighting, NO political problems and the ONLY time that the entire Manila and the entire Philippines turns over from an extensively high troubled nation into one with a ZERO PERCENT crime rate is when Congressman Pacman, Manny Pacquiao steps into the boxing ring!

Here we go again with another big fight for the pound for pound champion Manny Pacquiao!

Unless another worthy opponent shows up, this may be one of, if not the last, big bouts of Manny Pacquiao’s elusive career. There aren’t a lot of high hopes of a Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight as Floyd Mayweather, the mouth that can’t seem to back up what comes out of his mouth, may be in jail due to domestic violence problems.

So with that, this Manny Pacquiao vs Surgar Shane Mosley may be the last big bout we will have from the Pacman Manny Pacquiao.

Top 10 Cutest Asian Bloggers! (cyber cuties part 1)

Ok so in doing all my internet research and stalking hotties online online work, I’ve realized that there are a lot of very beautiful bloggers in the interwebosphere! These full time, top bloggers are usually a combination of talent, beauty and smarts. Many of them have used the internet as a catapult to shoot them straight to the top of the media world.

What’s even more impressive is how these online entrepreneurs are, finding creative ways of using their talents and passions, and sharing it with the world in such a way that makes us all want to listen to them.

I’ve made this short list of top bloggers who are indeed in a league of their own and who also posses the drop dead gorgeous looks that make their geeky minions drool for every new blog post they create. I listed them in no particular order, and have split it up into two parts.

Pictures were taken from each cute bloggers respective sites and links to their blogs are listed with their description.

It’s hard to talk about top bloggers in Asia without mentioning Xiaxue, she’s a Singaporean blogger who’s blog boasts 50,000 views per day! She’s also been rated as one of the top 100 blogs by Technorati, a feat that’s extremely difficult to obtain. In fact, each blog post of Xiaxue garners at least 300 comments!

Just like any rockstar has their haters, blogstars get their own share of jealousy and anger. If you’re one of the anti-Xiaxue readers then you’re probably already complaining and saying that she just photoshops all her pictures. Something that Xiaxue herself admits: “…Do not give the credit of those looks to me! Give it to Adobe Photoshop. My pictures are all enhanced (and trust me, I am good at it), so minus 40% and you get the real thing. =D” she says in her blog. But all I have to say is that it’s her blog that’s famous. We all get to see her blog, and rarely her. So if they are photoshopped… well who cares, it’s working! You can tell by the numbers.

Wendy Cheng’s personal blog had stories of travels, parties, fashion and more! But don’t let her seemingly sweet photos fool you as this top blogger also packs a punch! Her blogs have been known to stir up controversy and quarrels. She’s been known to have defamatory and even racist posts every so often. She even had a very controversial blog-off battle with another member in this Top 10 Cutest Bloggers list.

Nowadays, you’ll find lots of endorsers and a more calm and mature writer in her posts. Perhaps signs of growth and her growing popularity, or perhaps just a calm before the storm, waiting for the next big thing to catch Xiaxue’s bad side.

Unfortunately for the guys out there, this cute blogger is already married. Xiaxua was married to American Michael Sayre, whom she allegedly met online. They wed on 13 March 2010 at Italian restaurant Forlino.

Ringo, Rin, Cheesillicious, Cheesie, Cheeserland or whatever you want to call this fashionista. Cheeserland is one of the top bloggers from Malaysia who mostly writes for her personal blog and thus, can have some random stuff in there. Mostly, her blogs contain fashion, travel, her dogs, hair tutorials (she loves styling her hair apparently) and her personal fashion cheats (how to look like magazine models or celebs).

Nowadays, Ringo Tan is known as a celebrity blogger from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is known as “Cheesie” to many of her readers. Sources say that Ringo Tan loves cheese so much that she named her blog as such. Her blog shares her unique personality with readers and is updated very regularly. Trying to define her blog any more than that may be difficult as Ringo herself claims that both she and her blog are very “confusing.”

I can hear your blasphemous screams already… “Michelle Phan isn’t from Asia?!!? You idiot!” Well…. my very judgmental and loud readers, first of all, I didn’t call this the “Top 10 Cutest Bloggers from Asia” list, did I? No, I called it the “Top 10 Cutest Asian Bloggers!” Someone from Michelle Phan’s lifeline was from Asia, Vietnam to be exact, so thus, I would like to argue that this RiceBunny still does fall under the “Cutest Bloggers from Asia” title. Secondly, she’s just too damn cute to leave off this list! Seriously, Michelle Phan is a make up artist, video editor, blogger and entrepreneur, a total package of beauty and talent, so how could I leave Michelle Phan off the list?

2010 Top Trends: Philippines Most Searched

2010 was a weird year for search in the Philippines. I wouldn’t really have said that, but considering the number one searched item on Google in 2010 for the Philippines is the word “jejemon,” I’m now starting to believe that the end of the world is very near.

The 2010 Google Zeitgeist top trends for the Philippines is all about triumphs, from the success of the 2010 automated elections and the election of a new president in Noynoy Aquino, to Manny Pacquiao’s back-to-back victories against Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito. Venus Raj, 4th runner up in this year’s Miss Universe Pageant, snatched #2 on our list of fastest rising local newsmakers, and Charice, fresh off her Glee appearance, is this year’s fastest rising local music artist.

New Sun Life Piolo Pascual Planner

Just wanted to thank Sun Life Financial for sharing with me their new life planners. This is a new collaborative planner with Piolo Pascual called the SunPIOLOgy planner!

So excited to share this news bit with everyone. I was able to get a sneak peak of who the new ambassador is for Coke Zero!

It’s extra exciting to find out how very talented and beautiful their new ambassador is. I mean really, she’s not just another pretty face! She’s also one who has built quite a reputation thanks to her skills and talents.

This stunning and beautiful lady I’m talking about is already and accomplished assistant designer to one of the country’s giant fashion retailers. Moreover, she’s also a professional make-up artist, commercial model and singer. And just when you think you’ve got her all figured out, she surprises you once more with yet another passion – healthy lifestyle with boxing.

Furthermore, she’s clinched a record deal with MCA Universal andhas also signed with Regal Films. So looks like we’ll be seeing a lot from her this coming 2011.

The lady I’m talking about, who’s the new ambassador for Coke Zero, is the beautiful Solenn Heusaff!

Solenn Heusaff is one woman not afraid to pursue her passions and maintain an active and fit lifestyle. Much like Coke Zero does for you!

Anyway, it was extra cool for me as I just recently saw Solenn Heusaff as she was hanging out with top blogger Hannah Villasis of FlairCandy.com.

Watch out for more of Solenn Heusaff and Coke Zero in Chanell V’s New Year’s Eve Party! I’ll be there to check it out and celebrate the coming of 2011 with them! It’ll be on Dec 31, 2010, 9pm at Eastwood City Libis.

Kardashian Christmas Card 2010: Kim Family Assets in Skintight Long Sleeve Gown

If you haven’t gotten your 2010 Christmas card from the Kardashians, then don’t worry, it probably just got lost in the mail somewhere.

But if you’re just an eager beaver and really want to see what the Kardashian Family is up to this year, then here’s your Kardashian Christmas Card 2010 preview.

All I can say is that I thought Christmas Family Cards should have the entire family there. First of all, Ryan Secrest isn’t even there! Still not sure why Ryan Secrest was there last year, but either way, he’s family now. Second, there’s NO ONE else on this card! All I see is Kim Kardashian in a tight, skintight, long sleeve white gown that’s totally showing off her assets…. I don’t see anyone else on this card!

So yeah Kardashians…. you may need to do a better job on your Christmas Card next year! It’s almost as bad as that show you guys have…. where I ONLY see Kim Kardashian everytime!

It’s a brilliant concept that is quickly taking the Facebook profile pictures by storm!

Billboards can help spread the word and in today’s new digital age, your profile pictures can be seen just as many times as the top billboards out there along EDSA or New York Times Square. So why not use this knowledge and the internet to help put up an online billboard to help.

I want to thank master photographer Niccolo Cosme for spreading awareness through his lens.

Project Headshot Clinic – ACT

The Project Headshot Clinic for 3 years has given a different look at to profile pictures online, it became serving as online billboards on online social networking sites and everyone in it, who participated in Project Headshot Clinic became an instant endorser of the product being advertised, or the cause that was being advocated for whatever that is being advertised, commercial or a particular advocacy.

For over the past three years, the Headshot Clinc team has partnered with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) in fighting and responding to the challenge of HIV/AIDS.

The first awareness campaign of headshot clinic and UNAIDS in 2008 was called “AWARE”, followed by in 2008, and then “MOVE” in 2009 a follow up of the first one which aimed to move people from awareness to readiness to respond and act on this specific issue. This year’s, “ACT”, a clear call to action, where voluntary HIV screening and counseling was provided on given shooting dates by Take The Test and ASP (AIDS Society Philippines).

All headshots will be released online and should be used as primary profile pic on all the participant’s social network sites on December 1, 2010 which happens to be is the global celebration of WORLD AIDS DAY.

To do my part in helping spread AWARENESS, here’s a little more info about HIV / AIDS.

WHAT DOES “AIDS” MEAN?

AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome:

Acquired means you can get infected with it;
Immune Deficiency means a weakness in the body’s system that fights diseases.
Syndrome means a group of health problems that make up a disease.

AIDS is caused by a virus called HIV, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. If you get infected with HIV, your body will try to fight the infection. It will make “antibodies,” special molecules to fight HIV.

A blood test for HIV looks for these antibodies. If you have them in your blood, it means that you have HIV infection. People who have the HIV antibodies are called “HIV-Positive.”

Being HIV-positive, or having HIV disease, is not the same as having AIDS. Many people are HIV-positive but don’t get sick for many years. As HIV disease continues, it slowly wears down the immune system. Viruses, parasites, fungi and bacteria that usually don’t cause any problems can make you very sick if your immune system is damaged. These are called “opportunistic infections.”

HOW DO YOU GET AIDS?

You don’t actually “get” AIDS. You might get infected with HIV, and later you might develop AIDS. You can get infected with HIV from anyone who’s infected, even if they don’t look sick and even if they haven’t tested HIV-positive yet. The blood, vaginal fluid, semen, and breast milk of people infected with HIV has enough of the virus in it to infect other people. Most people get the HIV virus by:

having sex with an infected person
sharing a needle (shooting drugs) with someone who’s infected
being born when their mother is infected, or drinking the breast milk of an infected woman

Getting a transfusion of infected blood used to be a way people got AIDS, but now the blood supply is screened very carefully and the risk is extremely low.

There are no documented cases of HIV being transmitted by tears or saliva, but it is possible to be infected with HIV through oral sex or in rare cases through deep kissing, especially if you have open sores in your mouth or bleeding gums.

Ryan Reynolds was recently named the People Magazine Sexiest Man Alive 2010 and there are 99.99% of girls (and guys) out there who are not complaining.

Ryan Reynolds new title comes at a perfect time, right when his new Green Lantern movie trailer hits the media. It’s definitely adding a lot of buzz for this upcoming DC movie.

The Green Lantern trailer looks promising. Although I’m still not a believer that Ryan Reynolds is the best man to play Hal Jordan (Green Lantern), but only time, and the critics, will tell.

I guess Rihanna learned her lesson and decided to arm herself in case any more crazy Chris Brown type boyfriends decides to make her face into a punching bag.

OK, just kidding. But wanted you guys to see Rihanna’s new tattoo! Rihanna’s gun tattoo is a bit too much for me. I mean I LOVE tattoos and all but this one is just kinda over top.

BBT / Big Bang Theory Jim Parsons and Christina Hendricks are the BIGGEST Emmy Winners 2010

OK, the two biggest things from the 2010 Emmy Awards are now trending all over the interweb! Yes, we’re talking about Christina Hendricks’ Boobs….. oh, and yeah some people are talking about BBT / Big Bang Theory Jim Parsons winning the 2010 Emmy for Best Actor too.

Jim Parsons beat out assumed favorite Alec Baldwin for the 2010 Emmy Award for Best Actor this year! It was a big win for geeks all around the world as Jim Parsons was thought to be an underdog and not seen as a likely winner…. (story of every geek).

So when the envelope finally came and the name Jim Parsons was announced, everyone, even Jim Parsons himself, was shocked.

Congratulations to Big Bang Theory / BBT lead actor Jim Parsons for taking home the 2010 Emmy for Best Actor.

But onto the real winners from the 2010 Emmys… that’s everyone who got to see Christina Hendricks cleavage!

Yes, just when we thought we were out to see some Emmys, Christina Hendricks came along and gave us a peek at her Golden Globe Awards!

I’m not a big fan of her outfit, but the jiggling that ensued within the outfit was priceless! Right below is a sample of the possibility of the jiggle. Below this gif image is the picture of Christina Hendricks’ actual lavender gown.

Of course, seeing these amazing photos of Christina Hendricks got me wondering as to what Christina Hendricks ‘ cup size may be?
