Have you ever heard of the term “Social Media Suicide?”

Well let me introduce you to Social Media Suicide Subject #1… In her blog, she writes:

“i don’t fucking care that I’m filipino . i’m

ASHAMED as HELL to be called one . it’s

disgusting . why ? why do i hate filipinos ?

‘cos they’re dirty , they touch all the food

and don’t even select it . they’re so

judgemental . they’re rude . THEY THINK

THEY’RE THE MOST AWESOME AND THE

FUCKING BEST . they have too much pride

and are pathetic . so fuck you filipinos . i’m

not one of you pathetic shits , i’ll be anything

but ugh , a FILIPINO . from now on ? i’m

fucking chinese LOL .”

Fortunately, this first Social Media Suicide subject realized what she did and sent out some sort of apology. She’s 14 so honestly, I’m pretty sure she learned her lesson.

Now that’s one example of “Social Media Suicide.

Seeing this new online explosion of anger towards a little ignorant girl has got me thinking that social media management should really be a class taught in school.

*My apologies actually as my first post mistakenly assumed that the notes above and the tweets below were from the same person. Which is how it’s presented in the Facebook hate page. On the contrary, one of my readers, named Lola, commented and said that:

“(Social Media Suicide Subject #1) and @frauleinlinardi is not the same person. Gabriella Widjaja aka @frauleinlinardi is an Indonesian racist, seeking for attention by tweeting racist comments about filipinos.

I’m really not sure about the age or education level (or lack thereof) of  Gabriella Widjaja / @frauleinlinardi , but I do know that she made a big big boo-boo.

This girl,  Gabriella Widjaja / @frauleinlinardi, writes some very emotional, unjustified and racist words on her online media.

She tweeted about how much she “hates Filipinos.” (definitely Social Media Suicide)

It really doesn’t matter who or what you hate, but expressing your opinions in such an ignorant manner to the public eye can really hurt you a lot.

In today’s world, we’re all publishers and we’re all capable of becoming media powerhouses ourselves. All it takes is something as simple as a blog, a Facebook account, a Twitter account or any other online medium.

What some people may not realize is this social media online can be powerful branding tools that can elevate our future lives and careers, or completely destroy our reputation and any possible chance of getting a decent job.

Imagine five to ten years from now, when people search for the name Gabriella Widjaja / @frauleinlinardi.  Potential employers may stumble upon articles about our young racist friend and see pictures of her.

As of now, she’s being bombarded with negative tweets and very vulgar comments. Also, Gabriella Widjaja / @frauleinlinardi probably won’t have to wait long to get more hate mail, groups and threats.

Gabriella Widjaja / @frauleinlinardiXX didn’t seem apologetic for any of her comments nor has she censored any of her blogs and online accounts which is why I didn’t bother censoring any of her information that’s easily found online as well.

Just thought this could be a very valuable lesson for others to learn how to commit “Social Media Suicide” in case they want to thrown their careers out the window.

*On a side note, if you do decide to Tweet her or comment on her blog or whatever, don’t be an ignorant racist or idiot yourself. Be more mature and positive with your comments. There is no point for vulgar negative energy feeding this cycle. Use constructive words instead of hatred.

I mean, you want to represent yourself and your country in a better manner than she did right?

If one person can cause so much negative… imagine how much POSITIVE, millions can bring. Time to start anew… together
