GandaNg Pinas (Beauty of the Philippines)

Photography Exhibit

‘Di ba’t sawang sawa ka na sa mga imahe ng mga mahihirap? Who doesn’t know about poverty?

We see it everyday–in the news, as we cross the streets… Yes, we are aware of the socioeconomic status of the Philippines. We know of corruption, of the poor, of the incontrollable growth of Philippine population, of flood and garbage.

We think of all these things when we think “Philippines”. But have all these negative aspects completely overshadowed the beauty of our country that was and still is?

We are Diploma on Professional Photography students of DLS-College of Saint Benilde. And we present to you “Ganda Ng Pinas,” a photography exhibit on the beauty of the Philippines–the side of our country we seldom get to see.

Mind you, we are not the typical group of students: a retired US Navy, two working moms, a model cum photographer–we are pretty much a mix of the young and not-so-young anymore. But all of us share one thing: love for photography and love for our country.

As the new Philippine administration spurs nationalism and Filipino pride, we believe this is the best time to exhibit GandaNg Pinas. Let us work together to rebuild our nation, tayo ang simula ng pagbabago.
